The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a direct income support scheme that provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible landholding farmers. The funds are transferred in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months directly into your Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
As of April 2026, the 22nd installment has recently been released, and the 23rd is expected around June–July 2026.
1. How to Register (New Farmers)
If you are an eligible farmer and haven't joined yet, you can register through the official portal:
Step 1: Go to the 'Farmers Corner' on the website and click 'New Farmer Registration'.
Step 2: Choose between Rural or Urban registration and enter your Aadhaar Number and mobile number.
Step 3: Fill in your personal details, bank account info (IFSC code), and Land Records (Survey/Khasra number).
Step 4: Submit the form. Your application will be sent to the State Nodal Officer for verification.
2. Mandatory Requirements for 2026
The government has tightened rules to ensure only genuine farmers receive the funds. To keep receiving support, you must complete these three steps:
e-KYC Completion: This is now mandatory. You can do it yourself via OTP on the PM-Kisan portal or use Face Authentication on the PM-KISAN mobile app.
Aadhaar Seeding: Your bank account must be linked with your Aadhaar. The scheme uses Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) based on your Aadhaar number.
Land Seeding: Your land records must be verified and "seeded" in the system by the local revenue department.
3. Checking Your Status
If you are already registered but haven't received a payment, you can check your status easily:
Beneficiary Status: Click 'Know Your Status' on the portal. You will need your Registration Number (sent to your mobile upon registration).
Village List: To see if your name is on the approved list for your area, click 'Beneficiary List', then select your State, District, Block, and Village.
4. Common Reasons for "Payment Failed"
If your status shows a failure, it is usually due to:
Name Mismatch: The name on your Aadhaar doesn't match the name in your Bank Passbook.
Inactive Account: Your bank account is closed or hasn't been used for a long time.
KYC Pending: You haven't updated your e-KYC for the current year.
5. Exclusions (Who Cannot Use This)
Even if you own land, you are not eligible if you are:
An institutional landholder (e.g., land owned by a company or trust).
A current or former government employee (except Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV).
An income tax payer in the last assessment year.
A professional like a Doctor, Engineer, or Lawyer.
A pensioner receiving more than ₹10,000 per month.
